Vestibular Therapy

Vestibular rehabilitation therapy is a form of physical therapy that targets dizziness and imbalance conditions, and uses specialized exercise programs to improve stabilisation and reduce problems related to dizziness.

Symptoms of dizziness and imbalance issues such as vertigo, Meniere’s syndrome and migraines can occur at any time, regardless of whether the patient is standing still, lying down, or moving. They can be constant or episodic in nature, and may last anywhere from a few seconds to several hours.

At Synergy Rehab, our vestibular therapy specialists focus on exercises that involve head movement, which is essential in stimulating and reprogramming the vestibular system.

Dizziness can be described as:

  • Feelings of unsteadiness
  • Wooziness (swimming feeling in head)
  • Light-headedness
  • Feelings of passing out
  • Sensations of moving
  • Spinning
  • Floating
  • Swaying
  • Tilting
  • Whirling (sensations known as vertigo)
